how to mount a new disk partition in Ubuntu

  1. sudo mkdir /data1
  2. sudo mount -t ext4 /dev/sdb1 /data1
  3. make it permanent at boot time:
  4. sudo blkid to get the list of UUID
  5. add a line  in /etc/fstab such as
  6. “UUID=8afed277-34ca-48c3-9226-7x77dad  /data ext4 errors=remount-ro 0  1”
  7. Test it out by “sudo mount -a” will reload /etc/fstab
